Richmond's Just Transition is
the intentional movement toward a regenerative economy based in care, reciprocity, and ecological balance and away from the extractive economy and carceral systems that have exploited our land, labor, and life.
This transformation asks us to reimagine how we relate to power, resources, and one another.

Our coalition advances this work by building the future in the now: cultivating community-controlled land and energy, strengthening local food systems, growing worker cooperatives, practicing democratic governance, committing to cultural healing, and deepening cultures of community safety centered in restoration, belonging and wholeness.

This work is already underway in Richmond. Let’s continue building it together.

This is what we mean by A Just Transition.

Just Transition Framework
A Just Transition is a framework for moving from an extractive, profit-driven economy toward a regenerative, democratic one. Returning power and resources to families, workers and communities, repairing what has been broken, and building systems rooted in ecological balance and collective care.
Grasping at the Roots
tells the stories of Black frontline communities in Richmond and across the U.S. fighting back against big polluters, cultivating food sovereignty, and leading Just Recovery efforts. If you want to jump straight to the Richmond story,
it begins at 15:50, featuring the work of three ROPC member organizations.
