The Cooling Assistance Component buys window units or pays AC electric up to $800 for medical need. My neighbor with asthma got two units in July. Need doctor note stating heat risk, lease, and BGE bill. Opens June 1, first-come. The portal shows stock by county: https://www.utilityassistance.org/md/ – select “cooling.” DSS delivers unit or mails voucher to Walmart. Income same as MEAP but medical trumps if doctor insists.
